Lord Warden of Bruckenburg
Faren is a balding, middle-aged human with a dry wit and a keen mind. Nominally, he is a Duke of the Reik, but since the Empire’s collapse he has wisely set aside the prestige of that title to focus on his duties as Lord Warden of Bruckenburg. He never turns down anyone who wishes to see him, though he is a busy man. The Lord Warden is constantly attended by the Lord Marshal, a low-born half-elf who manages the details of any decision made by the Lord Warden (like a cross between a butler, a seneschal, and a bodyguard). He is advised by the wizard Nimozaran the Green, and by his own, youthful wife, Lady Allende Markl, a wizard in her own right. They have four children, though the eldest – named Ernesto Markl – is a ward at a noble’s court in far-off Tilea. Land owner Armos Kamroth, self-styled lord, conspires to take Nimozaran’s place at the Lord Warden’s side as advisor and confidante.
